Pupil Wellbeing
Positive wellbeing is promoted through the curriculum and other school activities. Through a carefully planned approach to PSHE, our pupils acquire the knowledge and develop the skills and understanding they need to lead confident, healthy, independent lives and become resilient, informed and responsible citizens.
At LPA we promote a mentally healthy environment through:
- Promoting our school values and encouraging a sense of belonging
- Promoting pupil voice and opportunities to participate in decision-making
- Celebrating academic and non-academic achievements in order to promote self-esteem
- Providing opportunities to develop a sense of worth through taking responsibility for themselves and others
- Providing opportunities to reflect
- Access to appropriate support that meets their needs
- Helping children to understand their emotions and feelings better and to feel comfortable sharing any concerns or worries
- Helping children to develop emotional resilience and to manage setbacks
Staff Wellbeing
Here at Lugwardine we work with MHFA England where we have had 5 staff members trained as Mental Health First Aiders.
These staff are trained to recognise those that may be experiencing poor mental health and provide them with first-level support and early intervention. They can encourage a person to identify and access sources of professional help and practise active listening and empathy.
We conduct annual staff wellbeing surveys of which the last one was conducted in May 2024.
