Allergies and Intolerances
As a school we try to keep improving and doing all we can for the experience for any pupils with medical diets.
We have an optional orange lanyard system which a pupil can wear to alert the staff in the dinner hall that they have a medical diet.
Gluten Free
Six of our staff have completed the 'Education Sector: Gluten Free Catering' training via Coeliac UK. This training has then been escalated to all staff so there is full awareness and understanding of coeliac disease and the gluten free diet.
Allergies
We run a comprehensive anaphylaxis training course for all staff on a biannual basis as well as regular online refresher sessions.
The school is committed to training all staff in allergy response. This includes:
How to reduce and prevent the risk of allergic reactions
How to spot the signs of allergic reactions (including anaphylaxis)
Where AAIs are kept on the school site, and how to access them
The importance of acting quickly in the case of anaphylaxis
The wellbeing and inclusion implications of allergies
Nut Aware
Although it is impossible to completely ban and enforce, being nut free we do all we can to have no nuts in school.
