The SSOC, or School Sports Organising Crew was put together at the beginning of the 2014-2015 year. It is made up of a group of Year 6 children who have been given the task of increasing participation in physical activity throughout the school.
They set about their challenge by carrying out surveys, having informal conversations, holding meetings and organising tournaments for the whole school to compete in. Their first tournament involved 175 children over 6 weeks, a battle between houses to find the dodgeball champions! With little support, the tournament ran successfully and sets them in great stead for the future. Not only are the teacher impressed, but other schools are looking towards them as an “Exemplary SSOC” team, and are keeping up to date with what they’re up to. Watch this space!
